Biography
Born in 1953 in Dushanbe, she studied painting at the Art College of her native city, then mastered theatrical and decorative arts at the Republican Art College in Tashkent. She advanced her skills through master classes at the VGIK (Moscow). Since 2018, the artist has lived and worked in Prague.
Zebo's creative style is multifaceted. In film, she has established herself as a brilliant master of creating complex historical costumes and images. In painting, her main theme is Central Asia. Using the language of metaphors, elements of folklore and archaism, she conveys the flavor of local culture, depicting this region as sunny and poetic. People are always at the center of her portraits, musical series, and abstractions.
The artist has participated in the creation of over 30 films, including such major international projects as "Orlando" and "Moon Papa." She was awarded the Best Costume Design prize for her film "The Great Amir Temur." Zebo is a member of the Union of Cinematographers and Artists of Uzbekistan, as well as the New Association of Prague Artists. She was awarded a special prize for her outstanding contribution to culture. Her paintings have been exhibited in the United States, Europe, and Asia, earning honorable places in collections worldwide.
